5 Fabulously Fun Things to do During Grand Prix Week

It’s that time of year, again! The long awaited week of epic shenanigans, warm weather, and fun spring fashions is finally upon us: Grand Prix! Many of you have already been able to experience this crazy week in its entirety, but for those of you who haven’t, we have a checklist of fun things to do during this special week.
 
5. The Grand Grillout – Caliber, a student organization that focuses on increasing safety and risk management for fraternity and sorority life on campus, is hosting an event as part of Grand Alternative week to provide a substance and alcohol free environment for students. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 13 from 5-7:30PM. There will be free food and free entertainment. For those of you who weren’t aware, we have two extremely talented bands formed by some fraternity men. Both The Mirror Men and The Subrosas will be performing at the Grand Grillout. And for you active, athletic types there will be a 3v3 basketball tournament and sand volleyball games.
 

4. Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller Concert
– As if you haven’t seen the green and white posters all around campus already! Mr. Khalifa & Mr. Miller are on their Green Carpet Tour, traveling the nation and performing on 17 different college campuses. Sigma Nu Fraternity is hosting the concert in their backyard., and for those hip-hop lovers out there, this is an absolute must-see!. If you don’t have tickets already, visit www.groovetickets.com before the event sells out! This concert is a farewell to our beloved senior super stars, JaJuan Johnson & E’Twaun Moore. Help show our boys your support and join in on the fun! The concert is Thursday, April 14. Doors open at 6 pm and they are the taking the stage at 6:30PM. #BoilerGangOverEverything
 
3. Breakfast Club – For all of the legal, 21-year-olds, this is the main event of the week, especially for all of the newly aged 21-year-olds who missed all of the fun of breakfast club during football season. On Saturday, April 16 the bars will open at 7 am to help all of us crazy Boilers finish off Grand Prix week right. Put your thinking caps on, collegiettes™! Breakfast Club is the time to let your imagination fly, whether you show up as a crayon, an iPod, or a famous athlete you’re sure to have the time of your life! 

2. Grand Prix – Wait? You mean people actually attend the race? Yes! They do! The actual Grand Prix race is on Saturday, April 16 and starts at 2 pm. Grab a group of friends and go watch the race! See first-hand what the week-long celebration is all about.

No one likes to be behind on the best news and activities going on here at Purdue University. After all, this is your school and your playground; you have to know the 411! Amanda Norell is a junior at Purdue University where she is working toward a communication degree, supplemented by an art and design minor. A true Midwesterner, Amanda was born in Chicago and raised in northern Indiana, just minutes from the Michigan border. In addition to being Purdue's Campus Correspondent, Amanda is also a junior board member on Liberal Arts Student Council, a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, and has both edited and written for The Exponent, Purdue's independent daily student newspaper.  She has held internships in both event planning and career development, and has her sights set on becoming an event and wedding planner after graduation. She cannot get enough of campus in the fall, crepes from Greyhouse, Urban Outfitters, and simply lovin' life.
