Nathan Blanchard, a music lover and the host of the Hanover College Music Library, is currently in the process of creating a website that reviews albums. This music website will not review released albums, though. Rather it will review yet to be released albums. By doing this, Nate will be able to provide insight to college students on up-and-coming albums prior to purchase. Alongside this website, Nate is the founder and leader of AVA, a computer science club. He is fascinated with movies, television shows and literature.
What inspired you to create this website?
There’s a lot of very bad music out there and someone has to sort through it all. Someone has to find the golden gems (records) and share them with the rest of the world. For example, River City Extension. Everyone go listen to them!
What inspired you to start listening to a variety of music?
There was a period of time, from when I was 5-10 years old, that I listened constantly and exclusively to Billy Joel. I memorized everything he ever created. Once I got sick of that, I had to keep going with other bands.
What advice do you give to other people who are searching for new music?
Explore new music. Don’t be afraid to try something new, and don’t be discouraged if you end up not liking it. Give everything a chance.
Who is your all-time favorite band?
Joanna Newsom
What is your favorite type of music?
Currently Old folk
Do you play any instruments?
Guitar
Do you plan on doing anything with music in your career?
No because music is a part of my leisure life. I couldn’t enjoy it the same if it was work.
