From A Guy’s Perspective: Hook Up or Relationship?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

So you’ve met a girl and you two have been hooking up for a couple of weeks now, with no strings attached. These hook-ups are common in college where people don’t want the added difficulties of being in a relationship; they can turn out very good or they can get ugly real fast. Eventually the girl will want to know what you two are doing, are you just going to be “friends with benefits” or will it turn into something meaningful. Whatever it is that you two are doing, like everything else it needs clarity. If you think that you can develop a relationship, by all means go for it. But if you don’t think you see that person in your life in the near future, then it’s important to let them know that so you both can move forward. Too often people get involved with one another and they end up getting hurt because there partner doesn’t feel the same way about them. So I think that is crucial to always know what you’re getting yourself into so that you don’t put your emotions on a roller coaster. If you see something you like go after it.
