Move over Facebook, you’ve got some competition! Twitter is on the rise. Reports from December 2010 show that approximately eight percent of Americans use Twitter, and the social networking site registers almost 300,000 new users daily! The site is most famous for the interesting tweets of popular celebrities.
I will have to admit that I am an absolute tweetaholic! I find myself scrolling down the website throughout my day, laughing at all the various tweets I read! Also, Twitter can be very useful for finding out the latest information about music, television, and even Quinnipiac!
If you’re on Twitter also, start following these interesting people if you don’t already:
Lady Gaga (@ladygaga)
· Why?: She is currently the most followed person on Twitter with almost 8,500,000 followers! She refers to her fans and followers as “ little monsters” and is always dropping hints about new song releases.
· Interesting Tweet: Greatest moment ever: Little Monster chasing our car
in purple glitter tights, leotard + permed hair screaming with a copy of Vogue in air.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi (@sn00ki)
· Why?: Because she’s Snooki! She is always tweeting funny things about her day and letting her followers what’s in the future for the Jersey Shore cast.
· Interesting Tweet: Goodnight tweedos! Love you more then bronzer (I think she meant than…but you’ve gotta love Snooki!)
Peter Griffin (@PeterGriffinn)
· Why?: If you’re a fan of Family Guy, following @PeterGriffinn gives you a good laugh when an episode isn’t on, or if you’re on the go and tweeting from your BlackBerry, iPhone, etc.
· Interesting Tweet: I’m searching Facebook for people named Hontas, just because I think it would be cool… to poke a Hontas.
Quinnipiac University (@QuinnipiacUniv, @QUAthletics, @QuinnipiacSPB)
· Why?: Here’s your chance to find out all the latest updates on your own
campus! @QuinnipiacUniv is always tweeting about the latest events on campus. Athletics (@QUAthletics) tweets about the scores of games, and the Student Programming Board (@quSPB) tweets about the meeting times for the week.
· Interesting Tweet: (@QUAthletics) Rutty has two rebounds and is now at 1001 for his career total
And of course, follow HerCampus (@HCQuinnipiac) on Twitter! We tweet the latest articles to be published on the website.
