If you could describe your style in one word what would it be?: Unapologetic
What inspires your fashion style?: My style changes on a daily basis depending on my mood and the situation, but I am constantly inspired by everything around me from magazines to blogs, what I see on the streets, old pictures/films, or simply from my own imagination trying to create new outfits out of boredom. I am particularly inspired by strong and powerful women like Grace Jones, Carrie Bradshaw in SATC, and Audrey Hepburn.
What are your favorite stores to shop at? Shotwell in SF, Madewell, UO, thrift stores, Karmaloop.com, discount stores, and other people’s closets. But really I can shop anywhere… like in the men’s or kid’s clothing section. I don’t know whether this is a good or bad thing haha.
Favorite brand/designer?: Rachel Roy, hands down.
Any items you are dying to buy next?: I really want a pair of new Nike running shoes (even though I don’t need any) and the OPI Shatter nail polish. Â
What grabbed my attention with Ashley’s outfits was her use of layering. Even if it is not super cold, layering allows you to incorporate more pieces into an outfit to express your particular style. I think Ashley’s statement about having an unapologetic style is really important. Fashion style is about expressing who you are and how you feel and everyone should feel comfortable enough to freely express themselves. I enjoyed Ashley’s use of different textures within her outfit starting from a button-up shirt, to a cotton sweater, which were all topped off with a denim jacket and leather belt.
