With finals week rapidly approaching, collegiettes are scouring campus looking for the perfect study spot to fill their needs. With so many options to choose from, how will you find your perfect nook?

Your Room:
When I study, I prefer to be in the most comfortable place I know: home. While dorm rooms are not exactly the ideal spot to spend two years of your college career, they are a great place to study for finals. Dorms tend to be quiet during finals week because everyone else is in the same boat as you. Plus, what’s better than being able to lounge on the futon with relaxing music in the background? You have an endless supply of food available (well, semi-endless since the quarter is almost over and the dining hall tends to be slacking). You don’t have to go out in the rain, or snow, or whatever kind of weather Ohio decides to have that week and walk uptown to the library or a coffee shop. Whenever I try to study in a public place, I always end up doing more people watching than studying anyways. Where else on campus can you be absolutely alone and choose to study in the best way for you? Whether that is with music on, by reading your notes aloud, watching instructional videos, or just by procrastinating, your room can fit all of your needs.

Library:
The library is like the Big Mac. It has it all: big beefy books, stacks of periodicals, every research tool imaginable, and those connoisseurs of knowledge, librarians. In my opinion, the best place to study for finals is definitely the “lib,” as most students call it. The second floor is great for researching and the third floor has lots of tables so you can spread out all your materials. If you are looking for peace and quiet, hit up the sixth or seventh floor. My favorite spot to study is up on the sixth floor, at the tables by the windows overlooking College Green (the views are gorg!). Another one of Alden’s perks is Café Bibliotech. If you need caffeine or a study snack, all you have to do is head to the second floor. The library is the perfect place to go when your roommate is blasting Lady GaGa or you are being distracted by the TV in your room. Although you may have to trudge up Morton Hill, the walk is undeniably worthwhile once all your studying is completed and you ace your physics final. Besides, the coolest dude in history, Benjamin Franklin, invented libraries. How can you knock a guy who owned a paper mill that also processed hemp?
