Nothing is more comforting than a girl’s night out with your best friends—especially after stressful midterms or upcoming finals. Over the weekend, I celebrated a friend’s birthday at Kimera Lounge—located in the heart of the business suites here in Irvine, and only ten minutes away from campus. Though difficult to locate, it was well worth the scramble in finding this place, especially if it includes drinks and a night with the girls.
As we arrived, the place was very trendy and the atmosphere was dark, yet intimate—perfect for conversations, drinks, and good food. The décor was also simple, yet sophisticated, which calls for dressing up in a casual but chic outfit.
Kimera also has happy hour specials all day Monday-Friday from 11:30-closing and Saturdays from 5:30-closing, so it’s easy to avoid crowds when arriving early. They offer $5 cocktails and $5 wines, along with their happy hour menu, which isn’t as cheap but their food is decent—maybe not the best I’ve ever had, but still delicious. They mix different flavors and textures, which makes the food different, yet tasty. I ordered the pesto pizza, which came topped with goat cheese, roasted red pepper, parsley and tomato, along with skinny fries and a baked hot chocolate for dessert, which was well worth it. The baked hot chocolate is a must.
The service was also great—they were both friendly and efficient. The servers were also very helpful when deciding which dish to choose or which drinks were the best, though I’m not 21 yet, my friends raved about the Mango Mojito. It’s best to arrive a bit early as they do card after a specific time because they have a DJ every Friday beginning at 9:30pm.
My experience at Kimera Lounge was wonderful, which my friends made even more amazing. I loved hanging out with my girlfriends while enjoying good food and drinks. It was a rather small getaway from all the schoolwork that we encounter during the week. What’s even better is that this place isn’t that far from campus, so driving is not a hassle. I recommend you take a break from studying and grab your girlfriends, or even boyfriend for a special night out at Kimera Lounge.
