Jordan Moncada Aims for VP of Pop Culture for popchips

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Jordan Moncada is POPular, or so she hopes, as she vies to fill the position of Ashton Kutcher’s vice president of pop culture for the company popchips. The job comes complete with $50,000 for a year’s worth of work, all expenses paid travel to at least three top pop culture events, including award shows and music festivals, and a year’s supply of popchips, of course. With those rewards, the job’s a hard one to resist.

With her eyes set on the goal, this Emerson collegiette made a short video intended to catch Kutcher’s attention. The sophomore broadcast journalism major infused nuances of movies Mean Girls and Legally Blonde into her video and is seen strutting down Boylston Street, interviewing students using her bubbly, infectious personality. It’s the same personality she’s brought to a variety of her internships.

“This past summer, I interned for a talent booking and brokering company called Flying Television,” Moncada says. “We worked on a lot of celebrity events, which was an awesome experience. We actually marketed popchips, which is ironic. I literally ate popchips all summer with my fellow interns.”

This year, she’s working as the VP of programming for her sorority, Alpha Epsilon Phi, and is also in charge of running the sorority’s fashion show this spring.

“Ever since I got to Emerson last fall, I’ve been as involved as I can possibly be,” Moncada says. “I pledged my sorority my first semester and have gained so much from being a part of Greek life. I have taken on leadership positions in the sorority I never thought I’d be doing.”

Moncada also works on quite a few shows at Emerson, such as Emerson Channel’s Good Morning Emerson and The Common Agenda, and WEBN’s news and entertainment broadcasts. This semester, she’s also hosting Emerson Unstitched, a show from EIV and em Magazine based on the concept of Project Runway.

Moncada says she views the popchips contest as a great chance to launch her career because it embodies all she dreams of doing in the future.

“I’m hoping that all my hard of work harassing everyone [to vote] and trying to make my video perfect pays off in the end,” Moncada says. “It would be super embarrassing to be the girl that lost the contest. This is what I want to do with my life. I want to report at pop culture events and blog about things. Not to mention, working with Ashton Kutcher wouldn’t hurt.”

We’re excited to support Her Campus’ new partnership with popchips and our POPular colegiette in this competition. Vote for Jordan Moncada!
