Lose the Freshman 15: Being Prepared

Good day all!!

I hope everyone took the time to sign up for SELF’s Jump Start Diet!

I woke up this morning with a mission, with motivation! I thought, I have Her Campus following me now on my journey, lets continue to start March off with a bang!

I immediately checked out SELF for some quick motivational tips and a good exercise I can do firs thing in the morning to start the day off on the right foot. I decided to startevery day with what I call 10/10/10. I will do 10 sets of three different ab moves along with 10 push ups and every week I will increase it by one so itwill be 11/11/11 and so forth. This is a great way to mix things up, but still get in a little burn before the day begins.

I wanted to talk to you guys today about taking the first step towards a weight loss journey and in my opinion it is all about preparation. I prepped by making motivational quote cards and taping them to my desk. I also made a collage of inspirational pictures reminding me why I embarked on this journey. Every time I want to skip a work out, or go buy a carton of ice cream to escape from stress, I look at this collage and my spark is re-ignited.

I also suggest, if you don’t own one already, buy a reusable water bottle. This water bottle is the key to success. Treat it as if it were your cell phone by checking it allll the time; and when I say check, I mean DRINK! Here is my bottle! I try to consume 3+ of these a day!

Another type of being prepared is with food prep. If you are like me, right now it is close to finals (the joys of the quarter system) and our time is dedicated to going to class, squeezing in a work out, checking Facebook (you know it is true) and studying. I don’t see any time in there to create elaborate, healthy meals for every time we need to refuel. That is why I suggest taking the time on Sundays to sit and plan what you want to eat through out the week. Then take the time to prep as much as you can. Want a chicken breast for dinner? Cook it Sunday so it takes 5 minutes to reheat when you need it. Want a big, delicious salad? Cut up veggies and put them in Tupperware for the week. SELF’s Jump Start Diet even gives you meals to enjoy through out the week. They do most of the planning, you just need to buy, cook and enjoy! I enjoyed a nice lean turkey burger tonight with broccoli and an orange!

A good saying to keep in mind is “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail!”

Now, go sign up in case you haven’t already, do 10 squats before leaving the room and let me know below if you have any other tips you guys use to be prepared! I’d love to hear from you!
