We got ‘Cats in different area codes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

It’s a packed weekend for Arizona Athletics. Here’s a sport-by-sport breakdown of what your Wildcats are up to:

Football:
Former Arizona quarterback Willie Tuitama has a pre-season scrimmage Friday for his Indoor Football League team, the Nebraska Danger. I would totally be all over it if my cable provider didn’t cancel my IFL Platinum Fan package last week, or if I weren’t too busy having an eyegasm at the SF Giants spring training opener. Sorry, y’all. Timmy before Tui. Wilson before Willie. Buster before pretty much everything.

Brooks Reed
, Ricky Elmore, D’Aundre Reed and Adam Grant are all participating in the NFL combine in Indianapolis, which began Wednesday and ends March 1. Bear Down on that bench press!

Basketball:
The men’s team is in Los Angeles for the final road trip of the regular season. The ‘Cats face USC Thursday night and UCLA Saturday afternoon. Arizona is two games up with four to play. I’m not very good at math, but I believe that’s a good thing. You know, if you’re into winning the Pac-10 and stuff.

The women’s team hosts UCLA Thursday night and takes on USC Saturday afternoon. Thursday is basketball jersey night at McKale, so wear any hoops jersey for $3 admission if you don’t have a ZonaZoo pass. I suggest wearing your most comfortable jersey because you are guaranteed to fall asleep.

Softball:
No. 1 (USA Softball/ESPN.com Top 25) Arizona softball has a five-game weekend in the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. Game one of Saturday’s doubleheader pits the ‘Cats against Georgia, who is ranked first in the USA Today/NFCA poll. Side note: Senior catcher Stacie Chambers was named Pac-10 Player of the Week on Tuesday. Side-side note: I went to middle school with her. I will be signing autographs.

There are several other UA sporting events this weekend, including tennis and gymnastics, but nobody wants to read about that nonsense. Google it if you must.
