Workin’ on Our Fitness HC-Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

I’d like to thank Nicole Karlis, who wrote the article How to Tone Up For Spring Break in One Month. It really inspired me, and my friend Kaley, to get our big butts in gear.

I’m sure you’ve been there. Complaining to your best friend about missing your lacrosse-toned body from high school? Wishing you didn’t drink that margarita? After semesters of complaining about our bodies, Nicole inspired Kaley and I to get them back.

Whether it’s that new Victoria’s Secret bikini you want, or the fact we are going to South Beach in May for our friend’s 21st; we want you to find motivation. We don’t like our more “womanly” curves that college brings. So we won’t settle. We will work out. And you can follow us through it, right here on HC!

Doing the workout on Kaley’s porch was comfortable to us. No strangers staring at us in the gym. We used her brother’s old hand weights. They were ten pounds, brown and sand-filled. Something out of the 80’s. But let me tell you; ten pounds is HEAVY.

The workout was easy enough but after that first set of reps we were dying. In a good way of course… I think. So we did arms, legs and abs. Arms were the hardest. Abs were the easiest. Legs were okay. The good thing is, you can adjust the reps as you need. Perfect.

Here’s what Kaley and I have learned, after two days on Nicole’s workout.

  1. Find a friend. It was really fun, even though we were both in pain.
  2. Drink a lot of water; we kept getting really thirsty and it helps curb your appetite.
  3. Don’t use ten pound weights; use three to five. That’s more than enough.

So until my next update collegiette’s – keep workin’ on your fitness.
