Place Profile: DC’s

Friday night destination: DC’s in Iowa City
On Friday nights after class, there is one place to be in Iowa City, especially if you’re a single girl.  And that place is DC’s.
The two-story bar and restaurant is located right in the heart of the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall.  It starts to get going as soon as class times dwindle, with people pouring in for $4 mixed drink fish bowls and $3 beer steins.  The conversation is moving, the wait staff is rushing and the party is always going.
The sports paraphernalia and flat screen televisions lining the walls should not deter a non-sports fan.  Friday nights are not reserved for games.  It’s time to celebrate the next two days off and anyone walking into this bar realizes that immediately.  And the best part is, ladies are usually outnumbered almost three to one, making it very easy to catch the eye of a cutie.
It’s best to go around 5 p.m., if you can make it.  There is usually a table or two free and multiple members of the wait staff have started to work the room.  You’ll get what you order fast and have enough space to decide where you’d like to be quickly because this is one bar that is guaranteed to fill up.
The menu is filled with burgers, pizza and fries, nothing too unique, but the mixed drink menu is extensive and full of variety.  Give the “Fruit Salad” a try, when you stop in next Friday, hopefully you won’t even need to buy it for yourself.
