Does it seem like textbook prices are continuously being raised, especially when you have four classes that ALL require a book or two? Here are two alternative ways to dodge the high prices and still keep up with the required readings.
Many of us take advantage of the libraries at UC Irvine to study for our midterms and finals, but did you know that these libraries also house course-related materials, which are selected by the faculty as required or recommended reading for their courses? Books, journal or newspaper articles, book chapters, and lecture notes are available on the first and second floors of the Langson Library and on the first floor of the Ayala Science Library! You can skim through the books and even make photocopies of important pages. Just go on the website, type in the name of the book, and check it out for the night from either library!
If the first idea doesn’t work for you, here’s another one: Rent your books instead of buying them! You won’t have to worry about selling them when you’ve only used them for one quarter. Simply rent, use, and resend! Here are two trusted websites to rent college course books from, both of which I have used in the past!
You can even use promotion codes!
It’s as simple as that! When the new quarter comes around, you won’t have to worry about walking around with a list of books to buy from the bookstore. There’s no need to wait in those long lines, and no need to spend hundreds of dollars! Happy Studying!
