Dear Younger Me,
There are so many things I want to tell you and I really don’t know where to start. Just know, it gets better. I promise it does because you are genuinely happy right now. You finally started prioritizing the things that actually give you joy. You start spending time with your family, who are actually some of the most amazing people you have ever met, obviously putting aside the times they go out of their way to annoy you. Your family means the world to you now and you cannot wait for the weekend so you can spend as much time as you can with them. Funny, right? The people that you are ranting to your friends about right now, end up being one of the reasons behind your happiness.
Things change and you change. Yes, you will go through an abundance of ups and downs, but that’s what life is. It is just up to you how you deal with it. And here is a tip: the downs are not the end. You struggle a lot with your insecurities and self-confidence. You make bad decisions. But in the end, the way you dealt with all of that made you the person you learn to love. You learn to forgive yourself. You learn to go easier on yourself. You finally learn to listen to your heart.
There is more to you than your size. You are a beautiful and glorious girl. Do not hide behind your clothes, and do not isolate yourself because of what others say. People will keep putting you down and will base your worth on your weight. They will try to tear you to pieces and constantly remind you that you are worthless, that you will never attract anyone, that you are not allowed to be happy because you are fat. But let me tell you now: you learn to leave that toxicity behind you. You put those people in their place by reminding them that they are the ones not worthy of you.
You stop caring what everyone thinks about you. You become happy in your own body and soul. You find serenity in the smallest things and you finally stop basing your self-worth on the opinion of others. You center your life on your faith, your family, your friends, and most importantly, your happiness. So, trust in yourself, trust in God, and keep pushing on because you can make it through anything.
Love always,
Your much older self
