From The Backseat Lovers to Kacey Musgraves to Goth Babe, we’ve compiled a list of 10 songs you need to listen to right now.

IVIE’S RECOMMENDATIONS

  1. Just a Boy” by The Backseat Lovers

This song screams angst, but I LOVE it. If you haven’t listened to The Backseat Lovers, I would definitely recommend their music. This song is all-around a good one when you want to feel like you are in a coming-of-age movie. Not to mention that the vocals are beautiful.

  1. Tangerine” by Glass Animals

If you want a fun and eclectic song, this is definitely the song for you. With it’s obscure lyrics and amazing beat, you’ll find yourself humming the lyrics to yourself during class (or maybe that’s just me). And let’s be honest, “Tangerine” is just a fun name.

  1. I Wanna Help Your Mind” by Goth Babe

Alright, if you haven’t listened to Goth Babe, what are you doing? Their music is honestly what feeds my soul. This song is a mix of indie-pop and electronic but it truly does help my mind (haha get it?) Just please do yourself a favor, and listen to all of their songs because WOW.

  1. Mulberry Street” by Twenty One Pilots

Wanna talk about a song that will knock you into a good mood instantly? It’s hands down this one. The fun synth beat definitely strays away from Twenty One Pilots’ normal sound, and I am here for it. My 15-year old fangirl self is thriving hearing their music so mature, and it’s definitely a song that I have bopped to when I’m walking to class.

  1. Classic” by The Knocks (feat. Fetty Wap & POWERS)

Picture this: I’m in tenth grade and am visiting Los Angeles, thinking that I’m ALL that. Summer is in full effect and I’m wearing my Brandy Melville t-shirt with my super high waisted shorts, and suddenly this song comes on. The immaculate vibes. Basically, this is summer thrown into a song while also being a complete masterpiece.

ORIEL’S RECOMMENDATIONS

  1. breadwinner” by Kacey Musgraves

Every song on “star-crossed” is amazing, but there’s something about “breadwinner” that just hits different. I swear I’ve been singing “He wants a breadwinner, he wants your dinner” on repeat since I first heard it. The beat in the background combined with her voice is perfection, especially when it starts switching between ears in your headphones. Musgrave’s message in the song is also so important: don’t settle for a man who’s masculinity is threatened by a strong independent woman.

  1. Edamame” bbno$ feat rich Brian

My sister showed me this song, and it was love at first listen. If you ever see me power-walking across campus, I’m 100% listening to this song. The beat and flow of this song scratches something in my brain, and I could listen to it forever. There’s no way you can listen to this song and not groove along.

  1. Shit Show” by Peter McPoland

Peter McPoland’s unique tone while singing is so satisfying. The chorus is so catchy, and the song builds in intensity so nicely. This is one of those songs I’d love to see performed live because the power from the instruments and energy from the crowd would be electric.

  1. Holiday Party” by Weeekly

I’m a huge K-pop fan, but a lot of the recent comebacks haven’t been doing it for me. “Holiday Party” is a giant exception to that statement. This song has a fun beat, amazing vocals, and a gorgeous music video. I wish I could have listened to this song all summer long. Weeekly proved everyone who said they were a one-hit wonder wrong.

  1. Light My Love” by Greta Van Fleet

Go outside, lay on the grass, and watch the clouds pass. That is the proper way to listen to this song. This song gives me the same energy as a rainbow, meaning it makes me extremely happy. When he belts the high note, serotonin literally floods my body, and I want everyone to be able to experience that feeling.

Go add these songs to your playlists ASAP! We promise you won’t regret it.
