It’s been about a month since the fall semester started. It’s time for a welfare check. How have your classes been? Any struggles? Are you enjoying the semester? I feel that we as a community of college students need to ask each other these questions more. We need to support and lean on one another. Mental health is one of the keys to a successful college career. Let’s talk about life.

RELATABILITY

I feel that telling you about my on experiences will help bring some enlightenment to your own. My classes are going fairly well. I did start to struggle and get behind but it was due to massive procrastination. However, I can say that I actually like all my classes. As far as my mental health goes, I would say I’m doing fairly decent. I do have my down moments, especially when I was behind, but I don’t really have those moments anymore now that I’m caught up.

HOW ARE YOU?

I know that this is not the easiest question in the world to answer but think to yourself, “how am I?” You may start to self reflect and realize, “I’m doing okay” or “I’m doing absolutely terrible”. A lot of times people will ask “are you okay” but I personally don’t ask that. I like to ask people “will you be okay?” When you’re having a bad day, it’s obvious that you are not okay. However, if a person asks “will you be okay,” that is a much easier question to answer.

VIRTUAL HUG

I want you to know that no matter what everything in the end will always sort itself out. You are doing great. Even if you’re not doing as well as you may want, you’re still doing it and still trying. When you start to feel unmotivated take a step back, breathe, and tell yourself “I CAN DO THIS!” You can do this! Never give up!

Greetings everybody. My name is Kayla. I’m a Scorpio and a junior in college. I am also lgBtqia+. I identify as gender fluid and my pronouns are she/he/they. I wanted to be a part of Her Campus to be a part of something bigger than me. I also wanted to write about important topics and make sure that I give accurate and truthful information without sounding boring. I’m going to make sure that I write in a casual way.
