It’s officially official! Fall is upon us, ladies.
For some of us, depending on location, it just doesn’t feel like fall yet. So regardless of where you are, what the temperature is or what the vibes are, here are some TV and movie suggestions to catapult you into that autumn ambience.
MOVIES
Pride and Prejudice
There is little that needs to be said in order to convince you that “Pride and Prejudice” is a fall classic. 19th century fall in rural England with a forbidden romance trope? Say less.
Little women
First of all, Timothee Chalamet. Need I say more? The “Little Women” fall aesthetic is unmatched from fashion, to framework, to Florence Pugh. In my book, you’ve only watched this visually stunning movie enough times when you are able to perfectly recite Laurie’s entire “Jo, we’ve gotta have it out” speech. I know you know exactly what I’m talking about. I will never get over it.
When Harry met sally
“When you realize your favorite season is fall, you want fall to start as soon as possible.” For my hardcore “When Harry Met Sally” fans out there, how was my interpretation of that line? Not great, I know. This movie is sometimes frustrating, but we love nothing more than a happy ending. Well, maybe we love New York City in the fall more.
Dead Poets Society
Grab your tissues for this one, folks. “Dead Poets Society” is a doozy. Even though it might be a tear-jerker, the entire season of autumn belongs to Mr. Keating and the boys at Welton Academy. The setting for this film is exactly what you would think a preppy boarding school in Vermont would look like during the fall. It’s pretty hard to beat.
It’s the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown
I bet you didn’t see this one coming. This timeless classic has been around for 55 years and it will always be one of my favorites. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is usually the first movie that I watch when October rolls around because it never fails to get me excited for the approaching season.
TV SHOWS
Gilmore girls
Stars Hollow, you will forever hold a place in my heart. I would do just about anything for a cup of coffee from Luke’s and perhaps a snide remark from Emily Gilmore. While most episodes of “Gilmore Girls” give off lively, autumn energy, if I have any Team Logan readers out there, “You Jump, I Jump, Jack” (season 5, episode 7) is a fantastic watch for fall vibes. I am shamelessly team Logan if I hadn’t already made that clear.
Stranger Things
If you’re looking for a spooky binge to get you feeling ready for Halloween, “Stranger Things” is for you. The first two seasons take place in the fall, and the mind-boggling plot is accompanied by some serious feelings of nostalgia that are necessary for any seasonal binge.
Friday night lights
High school football. It doesn’t get more “fall” than that. Although “Friday Night Lights” tends to have a flair for drama, this show will transport you right back to high school and you’ll be hooked. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
You
Joe Goldberg in “You” will have viewers screaming, “RUN,” at the screen. This psychological thriller is perfect to get you amped up for Halloween if you are a fan of suspense and high tension. This sure isn’t the Upper East Side anymore with Serena and Blair. “You” will keep you on the edge of your seat, begging for a fictional character to see the red flags.
The Vampire Diaries
Corny high school drama series with actors that are too old to be in high school? Boring. Add a couple vampires, though? We love to see it. “The Vampire Diaries” is definitely a fall favorite of mine and I usually find myself rewatching the first season during the fall. Mystic Falls, you’re one of a kind.
