It’s titled, “Halloween Movies and Series”, and it includes all of the must-watch movies and shows from the past and the present.Â
It’s time to find a spot in your dorm, living room, or anywhere most comfortable. Grab an oversized fuzzy blanket, a bowl full of popcorn, your laptop, some candy, and a friend to enjoy it all with! Here is the ultimate Disney Plus Halloween Movie Marathon list to make for a perfect fall night in:Â
- HalloweentownÂ
Possibly one of the most classic Disney Channel Halloween movies of all time is ringing in at number 1 on this list. It’s the perfect way to kick off our marathon with a nostalgic look at a collective favorite- full of witches, ghouls, monsters, and more. The movie follows main character Marnie Piper and her siblings around as their estranged grandma reveals a place to them called, Halloweentown, where supernatural beings can lead a normal life together. On her 13th birthday, Marnie finds out she is a witch just like her grandmother. The movie follows Marnie as she grasps this new reality, and has to take on the evil antagonists who pose a threat to Halloweentown and its people. It’s a Disney Channel classic film with three more sequels to follow. If you’re looking for a perfect way to spend a Halloween night, then Halloweentown is the route to go.Â
- Twitches
This is female empowerment at it’s finest! Another classic on our list is, Twitches. The first movie came out in 2005 and it is a look into the lives of two sisters, Alexandra Fielding and Camryn Barnes. Based on the popular book series produced by Broomstick Productions, Twitches offers a story about two magical sisters finding each other after being separated at birth by their protectors. After accidentally finding each other on their birthdays, their powers are released. They join together to fight darkness with their combined witch powers- earning themselves the unique name of “twitches” (twin witches). This is a classic Halloween film that deserves a number two spot on the ultimate marathon list.Â
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
Could this even be considered a Halloween movie list if it didn’t include this classic tale by our beloved Tim Burton? Released in 1993, The Nightmare Before Christmas rings in as one of the oldest movies on this list. Nevertheless, it always seems to be a fan favorite. The animated movie follows the story of the Pumpkin King, Jack Skeleton, and his longing to celebrate a different holiday, rather than Halloween. Finally bored with the usual dramatics and scares that come with the holiday, he chooses Christmas, but ends up causing nightmares for people everywhere. The classic animation, coupled with the infamous Jack singing, makes this movie a perfect edition to our marathon night.Â
4. Hocus Pocus
Picture this: it’s Salem, Massachusetts during the Salem Witch Trials. Three notorious witches have just been killed. Flash forward a couple hundred years and Max Dennison, a lonely teenager who just moved to Salem, enters. On an adventurous night at an abandoned house, Max accidentally conjures up those three witches, and soon enters a battle for time as they try to become immortal. With the help of his sister, their friend, and a magical cat (yes, a magical cat), the group must steal their spell book and stop the witches. If you love Halloween, you’ve seen this classic featuring our favorite three witches, (real life Better Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy). This classic film fits in perfectly for a night full of ghosts, monsters, skeletons, and scares.Â
- Frankenweenie
Coming in 5th with another Tim Burton animation is the tale of our favorite Halloween pooch, Frankenweenie. The black and white film follows Sparky, who once was an ordinary family dog, and is now a reincarnation. The adaptation from the 1984 film enters this list as one of our newer films- featuring some of our favorite voices such as Winona Ryder and Martin Short. As kids, it was easy to sympathize with young Victor when all he wanted was his beloved dog back in his life. The movie takes a quick turn when an experiment gone wrong influences Victor’s friends to subsequently make an army of resurrected dead animals who terrorize the town. It’s then that we all realize, maybe the dead ought to stay that way.Â
- ZombiesÂ
A zombie- human love story? Count me in. This list couldn’t be complete without the inclusion of our favorite from the 2010’s. Zombies has produced some of our new favorite Disney stars, such as Milo Manheim and Meg Donelly. It has also created a fandom of young kids. As you watch, you can’t help but be hooked on the interesting story of high school students figuring out how to live cohesively when half of them are technically dead. When a budding friendship between zombie Zed and head cheerleader Addison occurs, the opposing sides fight to find a way to forget their differences. Oh, and did I mention the zombies sing and dance too? It’s a light hearted Halloween phenomenon that wraps up our Marathon perfectly.Â
