With Halloween just finishing up and almost a year since The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina came to its tragic ending, I think it’s time to finally say what we were all thinking; SABRINA SHOULD’VE ENDED UP WITH HARVEY! Now I’m not saying there was anything wrong with Roz – she was a great person and a feminist – but she had no right to go after her best friend’s ex, especially knowing Sabrina still had feelings for him. It’s one thing for Netflix to take creative liberties with the show by making it about satanism, but this was going too far and making it lose a little of its charm, and here’s why.
- Sabrina and Harvey are ICONIC
In every variation of the show, whether it be Sabrina the Teenage Witch, the sitcom, the cartoon, or the comics, Sabrina ALWAYS ends up with Harvey in the end, making them a staple to the brand. Even when Sabrina was with Josh in the sitcom, she broke it off for Harvey, whom she loved, so it would make sense that she would do the same with Nick (especially when he cheated on her). After all, Sabrina is to Harvey what MJ is to Peter Parker or Lois Lane to Clark Kent.
- Unresolved Plotline
Another important reason why Sabrina should’ve ended up with Harvey is that it creates a plothole in the series that is never addressed. I’m talking about when Roz is turned to stone in season three and needs a true love’s kiss to free her. When Harvey’s kiss doesn’t break the spell, it proves that they aren’t meant for each other, and he still had feelings for Sabrina just as she did for him. You would think that after that, the writers would put in a scene where the two discuss their feelings for each other and talk about the effects of not being together, or even get back together, but no. Instead, they decided that they were just going to pretend that it didn’t happen and continue to include unnecessary scenes of Roz and Harvey being perfect, making us all go “WTF just happened!”
- Real-Life vs. Reality
And last but certainly not least, it’s a show and not reality. Ross Lynch and Jaz Sinclair may be absolutely adorable in real life, but they should’ve kept that out of the show. It wasn’t fair that the writers had to change the entire cannon so their characters could be together since they were dating. They’re actors, so if the directors felt that they couldn’t pretend to be in love with someone else, then why were they cast? That may sound harsh, but it’s true. By forcing the directors to rewrite because their real-life chemistry shows how unprofessional they were on set. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is set in a universe full of magic and demons, so why would the writers allow reality to seep in, taking away from the fantasy of the show.
