Over Thanksgiving break, I had the opportunity to see one of my favorite bands, The Driver Era, in concert. While this band is new and upcoming, the members on stage have made their presence known for years. Ross Lynch, alongside his brother Rocky, rocked the venue Terminal 5. It was a completely different Ross Lynch that many aren’t familiar with.
Ross Lynch made his name known by starring in the Disney Channel series Austin and Ally. On this show, Ross Lynch played the goofy but talented star “Austin Moon.” Austin Moon had it all: the dance moves, singing voice, and charm. However, he needed the help of his friend, Ally Dawson, to help shape him into a popstar.
Following Austin and Ally, Ross Lynch then made headlines in the popular movie musical Teen Beach Movie. This movie took his character Brady and love interest Mac into the fictional world of “Wet Side Story.” While everything seemed fun and carefree, things took a turn for the worse when Brady and Mac were becoming part of the movie. This movie was so popular it took the big screen again with a sequel.
At the concert, The Driver Era had two opening acts. The first band was Moontower and they definitely got the crowd warmed up. The frontman of the band threw items into the crowd, took selfies with fans, and even climbed up to the second balcony of the venue. Following Moontower, the next band was called The Wrecks. This band had more of a following and definitely gained more fans after their performance. Each of their songs were hits and the lead singer sang notes I didn’t even know were possible. The Wrecks rocked everyone’s socks off… and I mean literally – the guitarist danced around barefoot!
Moving onto the headliners, Ross and Rocky Lynch absolutely rocked Manhattan. From the start of their setlist to the end, everyone was on their feet dancing and singing their songs word for word. Ross really showcased his talent as he played the guitar, the drums and the piano when on stage. Some of my favorite songs included “Heaven Angel,” “Natural,” and “When You Need a Man.” Ross even did a fan favorite cover of the song “Sex on Fire” by Kings of Leon. The Driver Era performed for nearly two hours and sang over twenty songs.Â
The Driver Era is definitely a band worth checking out. Each member is extremely talented and they know how to put on a show!
