Many people, including myself, have songs for the various moods that they are in. Music can instantly change how I am feeling for the better, and as we approach the end of the semester, I think many of us could use a pick me up. These songs feature popular artists such as Kanye West, Harry Styles, and Pop Smoke, along with some of my favorite under-appreciated gems. I hope each of these songs will make you feel elated if you’re feeling down, or help you get out of any rut like they’ve helped me. Many feature an underlying message that everything will be okay, or will simply lift your spirits.

“I Got You (I Feel Good)”

James Brown & The Famous Flames

Everything about this song is bound to boost your mood. I find that repeating that I feel good, even if I’m feeling blue, speaks good feelings into existence.

“Binz”

Solange

I put this song on this playlist because I have never heard anything like it. Solgange’s vocals in this song will wake you up and make you want to dance.

“Supercut”

Lorde

“Waves of Blue”

Majid Jordan

Majid Jordan is one of the hidden gems I spoke about. The song is calming and so is the music video.

“Treat People With Kindness”

Harry Styles

“Alors On Danse – Remix”

Stormae feat. Kanye West & Gilbere Forte

This is a must listen. Whenever I hear this song, I envision summertime with friends. It instantly brings me to a happy place.

“Merci Beaucoup”

Pop Smoke

At the end of this song, Pop Smoke reminds listeners to take control of their lives, and to not let anyone interfere with what they want out of life. When I need motivation, this song offers it.

“I’m Sprung”

T- Pain

“Through the Wire”

Kanye West

Kanye wrote “Through the Wire” following a near death accident, and rapped the entire song with his mouth wired shut. It’s all about remaining strong in the face of difficulty, which is a common theme throughout many of these songs. It reminds me that everyone goes through it sometimes and not to stress about the small stuff.

“My Imagination”

Majid Jordan feat. dvsn

“TWIST & TURN”

Popcaan (feat. Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR)

“TWIST & TURN” is another song I guarantee will make you want to get up and dance.

“LA FAMA”

Rosalía (with The weekend)

“La Fama” instantly makes me feel relaxed when I feel out of it or have the blues. Her and The Weekend’s voices mesh beautifully in this song.

“Woods”

Mac Miller

“Try Again”

Aaliyah

In “Try Again”, Aaliyah reminds listeners that sometimes on the first try, things won’t go the way we want them to. She stressed that if we don’t succeed at first, we should continue working hard, a message I think many need when facing the end of the semester.
