With the fall semester over and the end of the 2021 right around the corner, now is the perfect time to reflect on the past couple months. Of course I learned a lot in my classes this past semester, but I also learned a lot about myself and about life in general. Here are some of the most important things I gathered from Fall 2021.

Surround yourself with good people

One of the most important things to do in college is to surround yourself with good people – I realized that this semester. I can proudly brag that I have the best friends on campus. I trust these people with my life, and I know these people would drop anything to help me in a heartbeat, and I would do the same. I would not have been able to make it through the semester without my friends by my side. Therefore, I believe if you surround yourself with good people at college, you can accomplish anything. Find “your people” at college and you’re set.

I am much more capable than I think I am

I had a very difficult semester for personal reasons and there were times where I thought I was going to fail a class, have to go home, etc. However, in the end I lasted through the entire semester and my lowest grade was a B! In retrospect, I realize that I am much more capable than I think I am. I just have to believe in myself, even when I am incredibly stressed out.

Trust yourself

Usually by midterms I start to doubt if I can make it to the end of the semester. Classes start getting harder, assignments start piling up, and extracurriculars start getting more demanding. At this point, you just have to trust yourself that you will get everything done. It may seem impossible now but if you keep chipping away at everything slowly, everything will eventually get done. This is such an important mindset to build in college because it’s really helpful for when you join the workforce and have deadlines to meet.

Things always work out in the end

Whether it be a bad grade, personal issues, or drama with friends, there were times during the semester where it felt like nothing was going to get better. However, I learned that even when I do end up in these situations, I just have to remember that things always work out in the end. In the heat of the moment, some situations feel like the end of the world. However, I always like to pause, take a deep breath, and ask myself “will this matter this much in a week?” The answer is usually no.
