It has officially been a full month of 2022. Have you ditched your resolutions yet? Or did you not even bother making any this year? Either way, no judgment here. This year I have successfully implemented three new good habits into my life that I set as goals for the new year. I know right, I’m shocked too. Here are a few things I did differently this year to successfully practice my new year’s resolutions.
- Ease into it. Biting off more than you can chew is setting yourself up for failure. Be realistic!
- Remember that nothing changes if you don’t put effort into it. You can’t expect things to change just because it is the new year. If you aren’t making an effort, it’s not going to happen!
- Don’t be too hard on yourself. It is healthy to have goals and expectations, but give yourself grace when you need it. You deserve it!
- Remind yourself why you’re doing it! Most importantly, do it for you!
- Celebrate the wins! We are all doing the best we can, give yourself credit and be kind to yourself.
Of course, any day is a good day to kick an old habit or start a new one. Just because the clock strikes midnight on January first does not mean that you have to become a new person. You may think resolutions are a bogus idea, which is understandable. I like to look at the new year and resolutions as an opportunity for a clean slate and fresh start. Here’s to surviving the first month of the new year, and to 2022 bringing nothing but blessings!
