Valentine’s Day is a day that most single people absolutely dread. While it’s often overhyped in the media, it’s still a great opportunity to celebrate love. Spending the day doing something fun and special with your friends is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday. Here are five ideas for your Galentine’s Day festivities!
Movie Night
There is no better way to spend Valentine’s Day than watching your favorite movie with your best friends. (Bonus points if you decide to watch a romcom!) It’s so easy to plan and a great way to chill and destress.
Museum
Valentine’s Day could be the perfect opportunity to check out a new museum with your friends. Since Valentine’s Day is on a Monday this year and most museums are closed on Mondays, visiting a museum could be a perfect weekend activity to celebrate early! As a UW student, make sure to check for student discounts! You can also check out the Van Gogh Immersive Experience or the Seattle Selfie Museum. Both of these are open on Valentine’s Day and would be so much fun with friends!
Candy!
Let’s be real, Valentine’s is really about the candy. Have everyone bring their favorite Valentine’s Day candy to share. You could even make a Valentine’s Dessert Board together!
Making Cards
All you need is some paper, scissors, and pens! Making cards can be as simple or elaborate as you’d like. This is such a fun activity to do with friends while you hang out and catch up. When you’re done, you can give the cards to each other or pass them out. You could give them to your neighbors, your family, or really anyone. The opportunities are endless, and this activity is the perfect way to spread a little love.
Karaoke Dance Party
The ultimate way to spend Valentine’s Day is to have a karaoke dance party. You can have a Just Dance competition and sing along. You could play your favorite songs (Taylor Swift, anyone?) and sing your hearts out together. Whatever you decide, let loose and have fun!
Hopefully these ideas gave you some inspiration for how to spend your Valentine’s Day with all of your other single friends. It’s also totally fine to not have plans for Valentine’s Day! Whatever you decide to do, don’t let the expectations that often come with the holiday ruin your day. After all, it is really just another Monday.
