If you’re from New England, you’re used to the typical winter weather and the occasional snowstorm. But, if you’re unsure how to spend the day when it’s snowing, here are the top things in Boston to do, ranging from exploring the city to staying in!
1) Go on a walk!
Yes, going on a walk in the Boston “winter wonderland” might seem scary, especially if you’re not used to the snow galore, but it is rejuvenating. I recommend taking a walk down Newbury Street and entering Copley Square to participate in making snow angels and simply having fun in the snow.
2). Go to the Boston Commons
Join the locals at the Boston Commons and go sledding! Sledding is the most common winter activity in the city, so come and join the fun! At the Boston Commons you will see many using the typical sleds or even trays from the dining hall!
3). Explore Newbury
Grab a quick bite to eat or a hot coffee from one of the amazing cafes on Newbury. Stop at Café Susu by Suitsupply or L.A Burdick, which is a quick walk from Newbury and has the best hot chocolate you’ll ever lay your hands on. Indulge in a decadent hot chocolate, because it is a must during a snowstorm!
4). Visit the Boston Public Library
If the weather is easy to walk in, then head over to the Boston Public Library located on Boylston Street. The BPL has been open to the public since 1848 and has beautiful architecture inside. Visit for a study day! The library is the perfect place for a quiet day to get some work done. Come back to the BPL on a sunny day and sit in the atrium and soak up the sun after the snowstorm.
5). Spa day
If the cold is too much for you, I recommend treating yourself at home and making your own spa day. A spa day can be rare during college, so invite some friends over and spend the day doing face masks.
6). Movie night and dinner
Enjoy a movie night with some close friends in your dorm and order some food from Doordash to cater the night. I recommend ordering from the Cheesecake Factory, Pressed Cafe, or Greco!
