Spring break is the perfect time to relax and binge on your favorite movies or TV shows. For anyone who is doing a staycation rather than traveling, here are some of my favorite movies that I recommend you watch over the break.Â
- “The Blind Side”
-
This story is a touching film that covers the importance of family. This movie is based on Michael Oher, a former player for the Baltimore Ravens. Oher grew up looking after himself and was not given a chance by most people he came in contact with. Not until his now biological mother, Leigh Anne, offered him the chance to join her family. We then get to see the impact of him having a caring support system and how that started his career in football. I 10/10 recommended the movie, and you don’t have to care for football to enjoy it.Â
- “Mama Mia! & Mama Mia! Here We Go Again”

These are two of my comfort movies. In the first movie, Donna, (played by Meryl Streep) is planning for her daughter, Sophie’s (played by Amanda Seyfried) wedding. In an effort to learn more about her father, Sophie finds the diary of her mother. She discovers that she has three possible fathers and decides to secretly invite them all to her wedding. Keep in mind, her mother has no idea that these men are showing up. The story is comedic and touching. There is also an amazing soundtrack, featuring some of the greatest hits from ABBA. The second movie is nostalgic, and we get a glimpse into Sophia’s new life and flashbacks of how Donna met all of the three possible fathers. If you are looking for a musical plus a great storyline, these movies are for you. I guarantee you will have these songs stuck in your head while wishing you lived on a Greek Island.Â
- “Love, Rosie”

I could go on for hours about how much I love this film. If you are a hopeless romantic like I am, this is a great movie for you. Starring Lily Collins and Sam Clafin, this movie shows two life-long best friends that are secretly in love but are continuously separated by different factors in life. This movie shows having the right person but at the wrong time. I recommend a big bowl of popcorn and a box of tissues by your side for this one.Â
- “Fresh”

This film is a thriller that just came out in 2022. This story covers how online dating can be a dangerous place to find love. The main character, Noa, is placed into a life-threatening situation with her new boyfriend, and let’s just say she is fighting to keep all of her intact. Also, for any of my Sebastian Stan fans, he does a terrific performance as the maniac boyfriend in this film. I went from being in love with his character to feeling embarrassed about missing his red flags. Get ready to be on the edge this entire movie.
All of these films have a special place in my heart. I hope that you find at least one of these movies interesting enough to enjoy over spring break. If not, turn on one of your personal favorites and give yourself a much needed break.Â
