My Top 50 Favorite Things About JMU

These are some of my favorite things/things I enjoy about my school, James Madison University, in no particular order.

1. The academics
2. The BEAUTIFUL campus (I am 100% in love with this place)
3. Carrier Library (literally the best)
4. Getting Iced Chai Tea Lattes at the Starbucks in the bottom floor of carrier library ❤️
5. The school spirit, you see people wearing purple everywhere
6. The pop-up farmer’s market on Wednesdays outside of the Union
7. Holding the door open for fellow dukes
8. Always seeing dogs on campus!
9. Going to dinner at Dhall with my friends
10. Going on walks around our lovely campus all the time
11. Ordering Starships (the little robots that deliver you food on campus)
12. Students have a lot of independence and the ability to make their own decisions
13. The size of the school
14. The nightlife at JMU
15. Overhearing the funniest conversations while walking around campus
16. Great collection of classes to choose from- even though it can be super stressful when registering for classes
17. Some of the general education classes that I have really enjoyed
18. The blue lights (the outdoor emergency phones to contact JMU police) all over campus
19. There are so many clubs that you can join
20. Our mascot
21. Having to live on campus freshman year
22. Our school colors (purple & gold)
23. The motto “Being the Change”
24. JMU Saferides being a great option to keep students safe on weekend nights
25. Mr. Chips (the little grocery store on campus)
26. The occasional concerts on campus
27. Being a part of a sorority
28. The way campus looks in the evening
29. The cherry blossoms on campus in the spring!
30. Picking up mail or packages from the union (my favorite notifications haha)
31. That most people wear comfy clothes to class and around campus
32. There are always so many activities you can do on campus
33. The quad (which becomes the hottest spot on campus when it is nice outside)
34. Dhall sandwiches
35. The burgers from the Den in Dukes Dining 
36. Blue Ridge Bowl in Dukes Dining 
37. Market 64 in Dhall (especially their drink station)
38. The Baja Bowl and the smoothies from Freshens
39. Steak & Shake being open until midnight
40. Festival on East Campus
41. There are so many study spots on campus (both quiet and not so quiet)
42. Getting to meet new people on campus all of the time 
43. Getting Dunkin in the Student Success Center
44. Going to Urec (especially when it isn’t crowded)
45. SOS Greek (the Fraternity & Sorority clothing store with greek letters) being near campus
46. Being in the Village (minus the no air conditioning in our rooms haha)
47. The window looking out on the village in my dorm room 
48. How classes differ from those taken in high school
49. Meeting new people in my classes
50. Going to such an amazing school!!!
