At Connecticut College, we’re incredibly lucky to have not one, not two, but three coffee shops on campus–two of which are entirely student run. Here are some of our favorite hacks for Conn’s wonderful coffee shops:

I feel like students don’t take enough advantage of the punch cards the coffee shops have on campus! If you bring the cards and get a hole punch every time you buy a drink, you’ll get a free drink for every 6 punches at Coffee Grounds and every 10 drinks at Coffee Closet. I personally love the incentive to spend money and be rewarded for supporting the shops!

In addition, my friends and I tried Coffee Closet’s “black and white mocha,” which includes both Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate flavoring, and I would highly recommend that to anyone who wants to try something new!

If you ask nicely, the baristas will put any flavored syrup in cold foam, so you can have your own unique drink! I discovered this hack in the Fall semester at Coffee Grounds during the height of the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew’s popularity. My personal favorite flavor to add is lavender.

While Chais are all the range at the coffee shops on campus, I suggest adding an extra kick to this spicy drink. I always order a “dirty chai,” or a chai with a shot or two of espresso, because it provides the taste of Chai with an additional boost of caffeinated and flavor. Dirty Chais are my love language, and the baristas are phenomenal at creating this creamy combination. Spice up your day with a Dirty Chai, you won’t regret it!
