I love almost everything about summer.

If you prefer cold and snow this is not for you.

I love summer weather. My favorite part is in early June when the temperature doesn’t get below 50 degrees anymore. You can wake up and immediately notice the difference. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping. When you step outside the grass and flowers are tipped with morning dew.

Flowers are another beautiful part of summer. Purples, greens, blues, and pinks on flowers of all kinds. They thrive and look so beautiful. When you walk into a flower boutique all the scents are enough to make you want to buy every flower in there.

Summer air is different. It’s filled with the power that you can do anything you want.

Summer is when the sun kisses your face and leaves you tan. Or pink.

When you go to the beach during the summer it’s an incredible feeling. The cold water compared to the hot sand is something you don’t feel other times of the year. Putting on sunscreen and falling asleep under the umbrella in a sun daze is only a summer experience. So are sandcastles and hearing kids scream in delight while playing with their family.

In the summer the dark is chased away. The sun is out until eight or nine at night. That means more time spent outside. The winter blues can’t get to you.

Summer means barbecues and water balloon fights. It means iced and cold drinks. Ice cream that gives you a brain freeze.

Summer is the time to wear less. It’s skirts and shorts. It’s flowy summer dresses that are pink, blue, white and yellow. Summer means light clothing and sandals. Colorful flip flops with painted toenails.

Summer means you put your hair up because when you leave it down sweat it sticks to your neck. It means time for a new hair color that will make people’s heads turn.

In the summer there’s fireworks. There’s something different about sitting outside on a blanket in the grass waiting for the fireworks to start.

Summer means picnics and good foods. It’s the perfect time to get away for a trip. For those in school, like me, it’s summer vacation. There’s no school to stress about.

Summer is the best season for fruits. All winter the fruits taste bland and boring. During the summer the stores and markets are bursting with fresh fruit like watermelon, blueberries and strawberries. Going to a farmer’s market is another summer experience that doesn’t feel the same doing it in winter.

I love summer and I can’t wait until school is over for the semester. This will be the summer before my senior year of college so I’m hoping that it will go down as one of the best.
