Ways You Can Try Your Best When You Don’t Feel Like Giving it Your All

It’s that time of the year: finals are coming up, classes are piling on work for the last few weeks of the semester, and spring fever is really setting in. It’s no wonder why people aren’t really feeling like giving life their all right now. Everyone’s tired, burnt out, and ready for summer.

But we got this! It’s only the last few weeks, we’re in the home stretch now! I’ve compiled a few tips that always help me out when I’m super stressed and burnt out and just don’t feel like giving the world 100% of my effort.

1. GO TO CLASS

I always feel so much worse when I’m being lazy and just skip my classes so I can stay in bed all day. I get it, sometimes you just can’t bring yourself to get out of bed. But when I force myself to get up and go to class, I feel so much better. I’m surrounded by people, I see my friends in my classes, and I don’t feel any of that guilt that comes along with skipping classes that you’re paying for.

2. Make your bed

It really does make a difference, I promise. First of all, if you make your bed when you get up, you’ll be less inclined to get back into it. Second, it’s so nice to come home to a nicely made bed. Third, it starts your day off with a productive task that’s not hard to do and takes 30 seconds. Totally worth it, in my opinion.

3. Put on a cute outfit/get ready however you usually do

I feel so much better when I put effort into getting ready in the morning. I’m more likely to want to go to class or do whatever I have to get done that day if I’m wearing a cute outfit and have some makeup on. Obviously, makeup isn’t for everyone, but getting ready makes me feel a lot better about going to do things I have to.

4. Keep your room clean

This one goes along with the made bed, I just feel so much better when my room is clean. It’s honestly horrible coming home after a long day and then your room is a mess. If you keep your room clean, you’ll have to clean it less.

5. Eat

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Food gives you the fuel and energy that your body needs to get through the day. I know it can be hard and tiring sometimes, but eating is really important to make sure you have the energy to do what needs to be done.

6. Get some exercise (preferably outside!)

I know it can be tiring and time-consuming, especially when you’re already swamped with everything else going on, but getting exercise really makes you feel better. Especially when it’s outside and you’re getting fresh air in your system. Take just an hour or 30 minutes out of your day to do some exercise, even if that just means walking to class instead of taking the bus.

7. Reach out to friends and family

I tend to isolate myself when I’m feeling stressed out, which is definitely not good for my mental health. When I reach out and talk to my friends and family I end up feeling so much better, even if it can just take my mind off things for a little bit.
