Hello, my name is Jocelyn Gordillo and I am a student attending University of California-Riverside. I am majoring in Theatre in the Acting and Directing track as well as Minoring in Business with an emphasis on Marketing. I am passionately driven by the desire to make meaningful contributions to society and to create valuable opportunities for diverse communities. Through the fusion of my artistic talents and business acumen, I aim to weave a tapestry of creativity that not only entertains but also leaves a positive impact on the world around me.
Growing up as a Mexican-American I couldn't help but observe the limited representation of my community in the film industry. This dearth of visibility sparked my belief in the pivotal role storytelling plays in shaping our existence. Beyond mere entertainment narratives contribute significantly to our historical records, crafting and collective narrative that defines our past.
In a world where diverse perspectives should be celebrated, it becomes imperative that individuals from different backgrounds have the freedom to share their stories without fear of censorship. This inclusivity not only fosters a more accurate portrayal of varied experiences but also provides a platform for underrepresented voices to be heard. By allowing for authentic storytelling we enable a richer more nuanced understanding of different cultures, fostering a society built on empathy and genuine connection
