MaryJane is a freshman at TCU, majoring in interior design. She is from Nicaragua and is also interested in finance considering doing a dual degree. Writing has always been a creative outlet for MaryJane. Whether working on a research paper or contributing to HER Magazine’s TCU chapter, writing helps her unwind and express her ideas in unique ways.
MaryJane’s high school career includes a year-long independent research paper on the 1972 Managua Earthquake, Her deep dive into geophysical faults, building collapses, and interviews with experts not only sharpened her research skills but also sparked her passion for understanding structural design and vulnerabilities.
Alongside her academics, MaryJane has always made time for volunteering, something that’s close to her heart. After a flood hit her hometown, she got involved with local groups to help distribute supplies and support families who were affected. It was a hands-on way to connect with her community and really opened her eyes to how people come together during tough times. Experiences like this have made her passionate about giving back and staying involved, wherever she is.
As she navigates her college journey, MaryJane is focused on making meaningful connections, growing her skills, and shaping a career that merges her passions for design and entrepreneurship.
