Hi! My name is Olivia Kratz. I am currently a freshman at Saint Louis University (SLU) studying social work. I graduated from Marissa Jr. Sr. High School in May of 2024. During my high school years, from sophomore to senior year, I was involved in the journalism club. In that club, I collaborated with other students in creating the school's yearbook, writing monthly newspaper articles and capturing moments through photography throughout the school year. In my senior year, I took on the role of editor for our yearbook and newspaper.
I have always loved writing, not only journalistic but all kinds. Yes, I was the student who was excited to write the 1000-word essays for English class. However, I have never been able to find personal journaling appealing. I am fond of being behind the camera and photographing special moments, although, I would say my writing skills are superior to my photography skills.
Besides writing, I enjoy reading, exercising and involving myself in mental health-related clubs. My favorite book genres are romance, thriller and science fiction. I am currently reading "One of Us Is Lying". I prefer leg days in the gym over arms, but I do try to work out my full body during the week! I usually try to go for runs often, too. During my time at SLU, I have joined Active Minds and the Green Bandana Project. Those clubs are both mental health-related organizations, and I am so excited to be a part of them this year!
