Sydnie A. Howard is a sophomore writer for the HerCampus chapter of Susquehanna University. She looks forward to covering topics such as representation in literature, tips for student creative writers, film/media reviews, and much more.
Beyond HerCampus, Sydnie holds the position of Assistant Poetry Editor for RiverCraft Literary Magazine, where she manages submissions, oversees the poetry reading board, and selects pieces for the final publication. She is Susquehanna’s Student Government Association’s Media Liaison, where she collects and sends out weekly reports from the campus’s media clubs and publications. She is also a part of SU’s Student Ambassador Program, where she gives tours to prospective students and helps host major events at the Admissions Office. She is also a member of Zeta Tau Alpha-Iota Nu, a social sorority at SU with a focus on Breast Cancer education and awareness.
Her previous publications in fiction and poetry can be found in RiverCraft Literary Magazine, Prometheus Dreaming Literary Magazine, and Moondial Magazine. Her poetry chapbook, Woven in the Womb, was selected for publication by Gilded Lily Press in November 2023. She has previously written for The Stinger, Emmaus High School’s student-run newspaper, where she was Deputy Features Editor. She won first place in the 2023 Student Keystone Media Awards for PSPA in the "Excellence in Reporting on Diversity- Equity and Inclusion." Sydnie is currently a student at Susquehanna University, majoring in Creative Writing with minors in English and Women and Gender Studies.
Sydnie is passionate about Margaret Atwood novels, slam poetry, and raving over her favorite films and two cats. She finds peace in writing poetry about childhood embedded with biblical references, fiction about how love manifests in death, and rereading the classics for inspiration. She likes tea, dislikes fluorescent lighting, and enjoys small towns.
