Red lips are a bold statement that, as collegiettes, we don’t make on an everyday basis. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to rock a red lip and we’re going to show you how to make it perfect!
1. Exfoliate
Exfoliating is important because it will get all of the dry skin and flakes off of your lips so the lipstick has a smooth surface to be applied on. Using a lip scrub, scrub your lips until they’re smooth. If you don’t have a lip scrub, a toothbrush works just as well by softly rubbing it on your lips. Doing this also makes your lips look plumper, which will make your red lip look even better!
2. Moisturize
After you exfoliate, your lips need to be rehydrated. Your lipstick will be easier to apply on smooth lips, so put on your favorite lip balm.
3. Apply Lip Liner
Outline the shape of your lips and then fill them in with the lip liner. A red lip liner that is close in color to your lipstick is best. Using a red lip liner helps if your lipstick starts to wear off, as the lip liner underneath is the same! A lip liner also makes the application of the lipstick easier.
4. Apply Red Lipstick
Now it’s finally time to put the lipstick on! Apply the lipstick evenly and generously across your lips. You can apply it straight from the tube or use a lipbrush for extra control, whichever you prefer.
5. Blot and Powder
This trick will ensure that your lipstick will stay all through your Valentine’s Day date. To do this, take a tissue and place it on your lips. Then, using a big powder brush, blot loose translucent powder (or baby powder!) over the tissue that is on your lips. This will lock in the lipstick and keep it flawless all night!
Using these tips, you’ll definitely have the perfect pout for Valentine’s Day!
