Nailing It: A Week of Metallics

This is a guest blog by HC Approved! blogger and Managing Editor Cara Sprunk for Chrissy’s Beauty School.

I decided to try out a week with metallic nails. I tested out a gold, silver, and blue from OPI’s Designer Series.

I started with the DS Magic, a blue which would be a good introductory color considering my love of bold nail colors. It was bold and sparkly, but because people are so used to seeing such dark colors on my nails, I didn’t get the reaction I wanted. Not to say that the color wasn’t gorgeous and fun — I just really like nail polish compliments.

Next I wore a gold polish called DS Classic — lighter than my usual fare — to my friends birthday party because it matched my flapper-esque dress with gold accents. I was obsessed. As was my friend who was already planning on borrowing the fun, fall polish. It was a perfect balance of professionally pale and fun and bright. I took it off at the last possible moment.

The last polish on my tour of metallics: silver (DS Radiance)! I had worn silver on my toes before — as I’ve said before this is the place to test risky colors. Silver was a huge hit! The icy shade was perfect as it got colder and will continue to look amazing against dark colored pea coats and winter shades. So fun!

I was a little worried going three polish changes with non-stop metallic colors. I thought it might be too much. But they all looked really good and the gold and silver really went well with everything.

I’m currently giving my nails a boring day off to breathe and get strengthened but this weekend I’m putting the gold back on! It will look great with any of my black going out dresses at night and then fall-like during the day! I highly recommend the colors, plus you know you can trust the OPI brand for a high quality polish!
