The glossy, color-saturated eyeshadow look has been popping off lately and it’s so cute, we’re not surprised. Just take a look for yourself!Â
According to Allure, all it takes is a little Vaseline to pull off this trick! A $3 pot of goo is the secret, and it can totally transform a basic matte eye in a dewy wonderland. Not only does it make your eyeshadow look insanely pigmented, it also helps the shadow to last all day. Basically it’s an affordable primer AND a totally cool way to change up your everyday look.
To wear it, just swipe a tiny bit of Vaseline onto your lid before applying your shadow. Start out with a super small amount, because you can always add more if it’s not enough. Devon Abelman tried this technique and her final product was a gorgeously pigmented and shiny look. She also explains that you can use Glossier’s Balm Dotcom to achieve this level of glossiness.
When you’re using this trick, it’s important to keep a couple things in mind. First: Be sure to swipe on the tiniest, thinnest layer possible. Then, don’t use a shadow that’s already heavily pigmented. The sticky texture of the Vaseline will make it impossible to blend, so, use this exclusively for those eyeshadows that you normally have to pack on and that don’t last all day.
Everyone is going to be asking you how you did this, but it’ll be our little secret!
