Facial rollers have become such a staple in my beauty routine during 2018. There are a lot of different facial rollers out on the market now, but the two that I have been loving are an ice roller and a jade roller. What really got me hooked on them is that they make my jaw feel better. I have had jaw problems in the past with it locking up or being incredibly sore. After using a facial roller my jaw feels so much better and I get all the other benefits too!

First thing in the morning I use my ice roller. I keep mine in the freezer and putting something so cold on your face in the morning really wakes you up! This honestly does take some getting used to, but once you do it becomes part your morning routine. I don’t have a specific method for doing this, I just roll it all over my face since it’s so large. I use my jade roller mostly at night once I have finished my skincare routine. It helps all the products sink in better and it helps to relax my jaw muscles at the end of the day. You could keep your jade roller in the freezer too to help remove inflammation more or if you just like it to be cold. Mine stays cool enough in my bathroom that I don’t feel the need to put it in the freezer.

The benefits

Facial rollers are thought to improve your physical health in several different ways, including:

  • Reduce inflammation
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Depuffs skin
  • Reduces redness
  • Helps skincare products sink in
  • Relieves tension

How to use

When I use my jade roller I start with the larger side along my jawline. I start at my chin and roll upwards towards my hairline. I go over the same spot three times before moving up to the next area. I go up my face until I hit my forehead and then repeat on the other side.

For my forehead and eye are I roll the large side of the jade roller from the middle of my face to my hairline. I do this along my forehead the go from between my eyebrows to the sides of my head. Throughout this, I am still rolling each area three times before moving onto the next.

For under eyes I use the smaller side of the roller and start from around the bottom of my nose and roll upward. I do this in two sections to cover my under eyes and then I roll from the inner part of my undereye to the outer, towards my hairline again.

For my neck, I just start at the center of my chin and roll down towards my collarbone. I do this rolling down and making my way on each side towards the sides of my neck. I’ll also take it onto my collarbone and clavicle where I put my neck cream.

Although jade rollers seem a little “gimmicky” at the beginning, once you start using it, you won’t want to stop. Plus, they’re available at several different price points, so it’s easy to find the right one for you!
