Charles Melton is declaring his love for Camila Mendes with—a temporary tattoo! Yep, that’s right, Melton had us all freaking out on Valentine’s Day when he showed off a tattoo that read “Cami,” and it ended up being fake.
Earlier this week, the Riverdale actress posted a photo on her Instagram Story of Melton flashing the “Cami” tattoo across his chest. Many fans were shocked and excited about the new ink, but Mendes declared on Instagram and Twitter that it wasn’t real.

Real or fake, this got us thinking about the stars who actually got ink in the name of love. Here are 10 celebrities who’ve tatted up for their significant other:
Pete Davidson
During Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson’s engagement, the Saturday Night Live actor got at least four tattoos inspired by his ex-fiancé. After making their romance official back in May, Davidson got Grande’s initials inked on his hand and her “Dangerous Woman” bunny ears behind his ear. He also had her last name tattooed across his rib cage, People reports. As well, the couple had a few matching tattoos.
In October of 2018, Davidson covered up the bunny ears with a giant heart. Grande covered the small tattoo that read “Pete” with a heart and an arrow going through it. She also altered the matching “reborn” tattoo she got with Davidson. In the behind-the-scenes of her “Thank U, Next” music video, Grande revealed that she covered the tattoo in honor of the comedians father, who died on 9/11, with new ink in honor of her late ex Mac Miller’s dog, Myron.
David Beckham
David Beckham is no stranger to the tattoo needle as the former soccer star has at least 40 all over his body. Many of his tattoos are in honor of his wife, Victoria, including a Brigitte Bardot inspired portrait detailed on his forearm and her initials etched on his wrist, Insider reports.
Posh Spice also has a few tattoos for her husband, including his initials and their anniversary in Roman numerals.
Amber Rose
After the birth of their son, Amber Rose got a tattoo of her then-husband Wiz Khalifa’s face on the back of her arm. She later covered it up with an image of Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.
Justin Bieber
Talk about awkward—Justin Bieber still has a tattoo of his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez. The tattoo, which is on the singer’s left wrist, depicts Gomez as an angel. Despite his marriage to model Hailey Baldwin, Justin has yet to remove it, but he told GQ in an interview that he has slowly changed the appearance to make it look less like Gomez.
Khloe Kardashian
In 2009, Khloe Kardashian revealed that she and then-husband, athlete Lamar Odom, had gotten matching tattoos of each other’s initials on their right hands. After the couple split in 2015, Kardashian had the the tattoo removed.
Zayn Malik
Zayn Malik and Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards probably thought their love and tattoos would be forever. Malik got a cartoonish design of Edwards on his bicep. After the couple ended their relationship, Malik started on-again-off-again dating model Gigi Hadid. The UK Mirror reports that the singer has since covered up the illustration.
Katy Perry
The pop singer and her comedian ex-husband, Russell Brand, got matching Sanskrit tattoos that read “Anuugacchati Pravaha,” which means “go with the flow.” But their marriage was short lived and ended in 2011.
Lea Michele
During a nude photoshoot with Self, actress Lea Michele revealed a commemorative tattoo of her late boyfriend, actor and Glee co-star Cory Monteith who died from an accidental overdose. The tattoo says “Finn,” which was the name of Monteith’s character. She also has a tattoo of the number “5” in honor of her quarterback, which is also a nod to his character’s No. 5 jersey.
Kylie Jenner
After only two months of dating, People reported that Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott got matching butterfly tattoos on their ankles.
Beyoncé
In April of 2017, Beyoncé posted a video on Instagram to commemorate her ninth wedding anniversary to rapper JAY-Z. The video included a snippet of the couple getting matching “IV” tattoos, which is the Roman numeral for the number “four” and it represents their wedding day. According to Refinery29, she later altered the tattoo to look like the Western Arabic numeral for four.
