In the words of Ellen DeGeneres, “From this day on, the world will be divided into two people. Blue & black, or white & gold.” We’re still questioning everything we know about life as it is—and as last night’s debate completely broke the Internet, a Google search isn’t going to lead us to the truth… but it certainly has proven fruitful in providing us with some pretty hilarious reactions to life’s biggest question.
Leave it to Jared Leto to remind us that at least some truth still exists…
How bout just plain fugly? #thedress
— JARED LETO (@JaredLeto) February 27, 2015
…but that clearly wasn’t the truth some of us were looking for.
“All I know, the dress was ugly!” = a specific kind of unoriginal. we all knew it was ugly; to say it underestimated everyone’s intelligence

Since the Internet couldn’t answer the question, some people decided to go the old-school route.
EXCUSE ME SUBWAY PASSENGERS WHAT COLOR IS THIS DRESS?? feel like my brain is breaking pic.twitter.com/lPshlNBjbj

Others decided to reach out to the higher powers.
Dear @Beyonce, help us get out of this. Release something at midnight so we stop thinking about #TheDress
— reeve johnson (@reevej) February 27, 2015
At least one of those higher beings responded with their verdict.
Harry answered a DM today about #TheDress pic.twitter.com/ZEwTNGY6rX

Some questioned BOTH sides of the debate.
What if I think the dress is baby blue and gold
— Chloë Grace Moretz (@ChloeGMoretz) February 27, 2015
And then there were those who chose not to accept that there was another side.
I think I’m getting so mad about the dress because it’s an assault on what I believe is objective truth.
— Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) February 27, 2015
And if people disagree with my objective truth I get so angry I want to destroy that way of thinking because it is just viscerally SO WRONG
— Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) February 27, 2015
Which is why I’m running for president of the United States

This dress thing is worse than the Sony hack to me
— Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) February 27, 2015
Meanwhile, it seems that Kylie Jenner was way, way ahead of the whole thing.
Or… was it this puppy that had it right all along?
OMG I need this black and blue puppy. pic.twitter.com/EgX6VeXReF

After a certain point, Ariana Grande just could not.
if one more person asks me what color i think this damn dress is
— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) February 27, 2015
Emmy Rossum, on the other hand, needed to STOP. EVERYTHING.
Trying to reach my bf to see if he thinks blue/blk or white/gold but apparently he’s “in a meeting”. Does he not get how important this is?
— Emmy Rossum (@emmyrossum) February 27, 2015
Amidst all of this, we had to be reminded that there’s more to life than #TheDress.
…Even though clearly, last night’s events will likely have some very serious consequences for us in the future.
They’re definitely going to take net neutrality from us now. RT @MattOrtile: (H/t @MarcSnetiker) pic.twitter.com/Wy4uNaH3V0
— Ashley Ford (@iSmashFizzle) February 27, 2015
But until this is all sorted out, we’ll just have to question everything.
My friend just texted me: “I’m questioning everything. What if Barbie was never really wearing pink?! I’ll be heartbroken.”

Are you team #whiteandgold or are you with #blueandblack?
