Updated Published

For film enthusiasts and Halloween lovers alike, October is not just a month; it’s a state of mind. It’s the time when the air becomes crisp, pumpkins adorn doorsteps, and the world turns into a canvas for your creativity. And if you’re someone who revels in the magic of cinema, Halloweekend is your time to shine.

It’s that time of the year when dressing up as your favorite pop culture niche becomes a conversation starter instead of a conversation ender. A24, the indie film powerhouse, has provided the masses with a slew of critically acclaimed films filled with iconic characters that would be perfect to dress up as. As Halloween creeps around the corner, it’s time to let your inner cinephile shine by donning costumes inspired by your favorite A24 films.

Whether you’re a novice Halloween cosplayer or a seasoned costume connoisseur, this list is for you! These A24 Halloween costumes span the entire spectrum, allowing you to choose how much effort and time you want to invest while still guaranteeing an authentic and memorable portrayal of your favorite A24 characters. So, let’s get to it!

Any of the characters from Spring Breakers.

If you’re from a hotter climate and want to show some skin, dressing up as any of the girls from Spring Breakers would be a fun costume. Just get yourself a bikini, a pair of chunky sneakers, and a pink balaclava and you’re good to go!

C from A Ghost Story.

Although it’s a movie that produces deep philosophical conversations about existentialism, you don’t have to think too much to pull off this costume. Get yourself a white bedsheet and cut some eyeholes out. I promise you’ll be original! Just clarify that you’re not just any ghost, you’re the Ghosty!

David from the Lobster.

If you’re rocking a cool ‘stache, dressing up as Colin Farrell’s character would be your best bet. All you need is the most basic blue button-up, khakis, and thin rounded glasses. You’re now set to have some conversations about the complexities of love.

Alice from Bodies Bodies Bodies.

If you have staple Gen Z clothing such as a crochet bralette and some leather pants then you’re halfway there! Just get some glow stick necklaces from your closest Halloween store and you’re all set to play the most ambitious podcaster in the A24 universe!

Callum from Aftersun.

Do you have a broken wrist you need to integrate into a costume? As long as you have a striped shirt then dressing up as Paul Mescal’s character in Aftersun is the perfect loophole for you. Just get some dark jeans and a chunky belt and you’re good to cry to “Under Pressure” by Queen (IYKYK).

Tommy Wiseau from The Disaster Artist.

Oh hi, reader! I wouldn’t be a true A24 fan if I didn’t mention Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist. If you got an all-black outfit with a black blazer and some black Matrix-esque sunglasses, all you need to do is remember a few of the iconic lines from The Room and you’d be the funniest guy at the party.

Evelyn Wang from Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

Everything Everywhere All At Once’s Oscar sweep warrants at least one spot on this list. If you want to go all out and be as campy as you want, I do recommend dressing up as Jobu. But if you’re looking for a low-effort costume, Evelyn is where it’s at. A floral long-sleeve button-up, a quilted vest, and some sweatpants? Sign me up. Throw in a third eye and you’ll be the most comfortable person at the party!

Pearl from Pearl.

Do you have that vibrant red dress you’ve yet to fully utilize in your closet? Are you doomed to ruin your mascara by the end of the night? Don’t worry it’s all a part of the costume! Get yourself a fake hatchet and maybe try a Southern accent for the rest of the night. Everyone will treat you like the star that you are.

Lady bird from Lady bird.

Because… of course! This is the staple A24 costume. Temporarily dye your hair with some pink and get a matching fake cast if you can and everyone should know who you are, even if they’re not movie buffs!

Howard Ratner from Uncut Gems.

Do you want to stand out in a room full of Adam Sandlers dressed in oversized dad clothes and jorts? Get a mustered polo, a leather jacket, and maybe a fake goatee. You’ll be the coolest Adam Sandler at the party.

Peter from Hereditary.

Get yourself some fake blood, a crown, and some nose tape! Peter is a deceivingly easy costume despite looking rather cool. Make sure whatever green hoodie and white shirt you wear you’re okay ruining because of all the fake blood.

Dani from Midsommar.

Florence Pugh’s Dani is probably the most iconic Halloween costume, so much so that Florence, herself, has dressed up as her for Halloween! It’s a bit of work but if you somehow assembled a flower crown with a beautiful white flowy dress, then you’ll have everyone’s permission to cry at the party.

Maxine Minx From Maxxxine.

MaXXXine was the long-awaited third installment of the X series and Maxine Minx was a star! Mia Goth donned many iconic fits in the film, but perhaps, her most memorable one was with her red eye makeup. If full makeup isn’t your vibe, she also rocked curly ’80s blonde hair with a dazzling head-to-toe denim look.

Mia From Talk To Me.

IMHO, this is one of the best (and most heartbreaking) horror movies A24 has distributed in recent years. It’s easy to let Mia in as your Halloween costume with a mustard yellow sweater. You can even opt for black eye contacts if you’re feeling brave. You can also grab a Talk To Me hand on Etsy or even paint your own hand to resemble the movie’s famous prop.
