Actress Niki Koss Discusses ‘Famous In Love’ Season 2 & Being the ‘Bad’ Girl (Exclusive Q&A)

For those of you keeping up with Famous In Love this season, you probably know Niki Koss as bad girl Alexis Glenn. Beyond her acting projects, Niki has also directed, produced and written several series and short films. Her wide variety of experiences has allowed her to become a better actress and artist throughout her career.

Niki chatted with Her Campus about shooting the hit show, what she thinks of costar Bella Thorne, her favorite movie snacks and more.

Her Campus: Season 2 of Famous In Love premiered April 4, how would you compare your personal experiences of shooting season 1 vs. season 2?

Niki Koss: Both experiences were amazing. Season 2 was really special because it really felt like we were going to work with our family every day. We were also a lot more comfortable and secure, which made everything even more fun and special.

HC: What’s it like having to play the bad girl that no one likes? Do you enjoy it or would you prefer being the good girl?

NK: I love playing Alexis. I’ve found that usually the “bad” characters are the ones with the most layers and complexity.

HC: We’re huge fans of I. Marlene King and Bella Thorne here at Her Campus. What’s it like working with them?

NK: They are both amazing women. Marlene has always been a huge inspiration of mine and Bella’s constant “be yourself” attitude is such a great energy to have on set.

HC: You’ve worn nearly every hat in Hollywood, do you think your work as a director, screenwriter and producer has helped improve yourself as an actress?

NK: Definitely! I’ve learned so much about acting from directing and vise versa. It all kind of ties in together. Holding casting session after casting session has also been a huge learning experience for me as an actor.

HC: If you could shadow any director, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

NK: [Quentin] Tarantino. I find him to be one of the most fascinating people and directors. I’d give anything to follow him around for the day.

HC: Had you always been interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry? If you could have any other career, what would it be and why?

NK: Yes, for as long as I can remember. If I wasn’t in the entertainment industry I’m sure I’d still be doing something creative. Maybe a fashion designer…or maybe a race car driver, who knows?

HC: Did you go to college?

NK: I did not. When I graduated high school I was faced with the decision of going to college or starting my career right away. I knew I was already coming in at a big disadvantage starting as late as I was and I was too motivated and passionate about it to delay it any longer.

HC: Everyone has a favorite snack when watching a movie—what’s yours?

NK: Oh, that’s a tough one! I love popcorn with chocolate thrown in there somewhere. Also, hot Cheetos on any occasion.
