OK, I did not have Alix Earle showing off a dress covered in her vomit on my 2023 bingo card, but somehow I am also really not surprised. The internet star shared a TikTok where she showed off a crochet dress that she says she stated was covered in her own puke (throw-up? vomit? upchuck?) from over a year ago. And, of course, the internet has… thoughts.
The crochet and sequin dress by Retrofête, which retailed for $795, was worn to celebrate Earle’s 22nd birthday. In her GRWM for her birthday, Earle talks about how the dress is a little different from her usual style and has a beach cover-up vibe. In the now infamous closet cleanout video, she says that’s why it has vomit on it since it was worn for a night of fancy dinners and partying in Miami.
In all honestly, Earle probably thought this disgusting (IMHO) story would be on brand for her: she named her podcast Hot Mess for a reason, and more than once I have seen a video she posted showcasing a less-than-tidy room come across my FYP. But the internet is still shocked, and super grossed out, by this discovery. Honestly, I just can’t believe she let it sit in her closet for that long.
Many took the comments to ask why this dress had survived the move from Earle’s college house to her post-grad apartment following her graduation from the University of Miami in May 2023. But does anyone else remember those TikToks she posted where her room was so messy you couldn’t walk through it? That makes this so much less surprising TBH. But a vomit-covered dress is just another level — especially when it’s been rotting in a closet for over a year. And of course, TikTok is full of people stitching her video to share their reactions, and most people just have a lot of follow-up questions.
Some TikTok users are just too shocked to speak.
Many fans of the Miami “it” girl have decided this means they don’t need a clean room either.
Is anyone else seeing a GRWM to clean my apartment series in the future?
Some Twitter users are definitely calling her out for this.
So many twenty-something teenage girls are finding this relatable.
We love it when women support women.
If anyone needs me, this whole experience has inspired me to do some laundry TBH.
