Ever since we finished Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, we’ve been looking for answers. But creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has been silent on all fronts. Now, in an exclusive interview with TVLine, she’s finally answering our burning questions, though she’s not yet ready to reveal all the Gilmores’ secrets.
Here are four key takeaways every GG fan needs to know:
1. That cliffhanger wasn’t intentional.
Sherman-Palladino insists that even though the final four words leave viewers wanting more, this isn’t because she wanted to end the series on a cliffhanger. “The thing about these women is their lives keep going. And keep changing…That’s more real than if all three of them had lovely endings and we tied it up with a bow and everyone went home with a unicorn.”
2. Another revival is not in the works.
When asked what it would take to make another revival happen, AS-P was clear: “No one is talking about that right now…It’s been very intense. So we’re stepping back now.”
3. But never say never.
She added that she’s not ruling out another revival because “I don’t rule anything in my life out.”
4. She knows who the father of Rory’s baby is, but she’s still not telling.
The show’s creator was worried fans spent too much time focusing on Rory’s love life and which team would come out on top in the revival. The decision to not reveal the father of Rory’s baby, though AS-P feels it’s fairly obvious, was deliberate. “I’m not being cryptic. I just want to keep the focus on what the story point is. It’s not about the boy. It’s about her.”
There are SO many other spoiler-y goodies in this interview, including answers to all your burning questions. Why introduce us to Mr. Kim after all this time? Who sent Emily that letter? How did Rory afford all those flights? And much, much more.
