I’m a certified The Sex Lives of College Girls lover, and I’m not mad about it. The show carries effortless humor with a down-to-earth attitude that not many television shows have nowadays, and it’s just so easy to connect with. I’ve been binging each episode of Season 2 as it’s been coming out, and the plot is getting good. One of my favorite storylines from the season has to be Whitney’s budding, slow burn romance with her enemy lab partner, Andrew. And it’s really got me thinking… who is Andrew from The Sex Lives of College Girls, and where have I seen him before?
Throughout the entirety of Season 2, both Whitney and Andrew butt heads in class when they finally (and coincidentally) are assigned as each other lab partners. In Episode 6, we get to watch their tumultuous relationship on full blast when they work on their lab assignment that Andrew doesn’t want Whitney having any part in, but their relationship might be headed for more after a brief moment of attraction had me doing a double-take. I quite honestly can’t wait to see where their story is heading. After watching that latest moment, though, I really can’t help myself from thinking, where have I seen this man before?
Charlie Hall’s parents are Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall.
Turns out I definitely know a little bit about this Andrew character, and chances are, you probably do too. Andrew is played by Charlie Hall, a 25-year-old actor who has starred in other projects like Bel Air, Love Victor, and Single Drunk Female. However, he does happen to have some pretty famous parents as well. His mother just so happens to be Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who you may recognize as Elaine from Seinfeld. His father is also actor and comedian Brad Hall, who used to star in Saturday Night Live. But, how did Hall go from celebrity son to a rising actor apart from The Sex Lives of College Girls? Well, I’m here to dish just that!
He hasn’t always been an actor.
Before embarking on his career in acting, he attended Northwestern University where he actually played on their basketball team. Hall has also dabbled in filmmaking, releasing his own comedy project entitled Sorry, Charlie that went live on YouTube in 2020.
Before landing his first speaking role in one of his mom’s TV shows, Hall was featured in a number of other TV shows and movies. His first leap into the industry, though, was when he was featured in Louis-Dreyfus’ show, Veep. In the project, he played Eddie Axler, who Louis-Dreyfus described as “an inappropriately young boyfriend to a record executive.” Seems like Charlie might have just been born to play roles of sensual love interests.
His mom is really proud of him.
Louis-Dreyfus has always raved about how proud she is of Hall, even as he’s ventured into her same career path. When speaking with Entertainment Tonight after the announcement of his involvement in The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2, Louis-Dreyfus raved, “He’s really digging being an actor and he’s really good, […] Good on him.” She’s even revealed that her number one piece of acting advice for him was to “get out of the business.” The two recently attended the White House State Dinner together on Dec. 2.
You can catch him in more projects after The Sex Lives of College Girls.
With parents of critical acclaim like Hall’s, it’s hard to not tie the young actor back to them, but he’s definitely paving his own way. He’s set to be a part of another upcoming HBO Max series, Sweethearts, in addition to the second season of Disney+’s Big Shot. No matter where he decides to take his career, I’m anticipating where his character Andrew and Whitney will take things in these final few episodes of The Sex Lives of College Girls.
What is Charlie Hall’s Instagram?
Hall does have an Instagram account (@charlie_hall), but after looking at his page, you might notice it seems that the young actor stays off social media. With a little over 30,000 followers on Instagram, and only two posts from this year alone, it looks like Hall is a no-social-media type of guy (which we love).
