We all loved that are they-aren’t they romance between Ron and Hermione in Harry Potter. When it finally happened, we were overjoyed. There was something so rewarding about it that when J.K. Rowling revealed that she *maybe* wouldn’t have paired the two up if she were to go back and do it again, we were heartbroken, angry… and all sorts of emotions.
Well, prepare to feel all those things again, because just when you thought Ron and Hermione were ~forever~, it turns out that might not actually be the case. Ruper Grint, who played Ron in the films, revealed that he doesn’t think the marriage would last IRL.
“I don’t think that relationship would have done very well,” Grint admitted. “I would expect Ron has probably divorced Hermione already.” In Rupert’s version of events, Ron is also failing at getting Tinder dates and, “living on his own, in a little one-bedroom apartment. He hasn’t got a job.” Wow, way harsh.
This might have had something to do with how easily Ron bailed in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. He got too angry too quickly and gave up on Hermione. Maybe this is what Rupert thinks happened to the fictional couple’s marriage.
Well, collegiettes, we think this is a job for J.K. Rowling herself. An eighth book would do nicely, wouldn’t it?
