If you’ve been on Twitter recently, you might’ve heard that Pete Davidson and Emily Ratajkowski — that’s right, the Emily Ratajkowski — might be dating. Celebrity gossip account Deuxmoi posted an Instagram story yesterday breaking the news: An anonymous user DMed them saying they were “on a date together in Brooklyn… holding hands and all.” The anonymous user doubled down on their suspicions, writing, “They’re clearly hooking up.” The post blew up on Twitter, with “Pete Davidson” quickly climbing up the Twitter Trending page, and leaving everyone wondering just how this couple came to be.
This is coming after Ratajkowski confirmed her divorce from Sebastian Bear-McClard in September after he reportedly cheated on her. Earlier this month, she opened up to Harper’s BAZAAR about the emotions she’s experienced after the divorce, saying, “I feel anger, sadness. I feel excitement. I feel joy. I feel levity. Every day is different. The only good thing I know is that I ‘m feeling all those things, which is nice because it makes me believe that I’ll be okay.” She also admitted to “going on dates” back in October, but mentioned wanting to focus on taking care of her one-year-old son, Sly. Despite rumors of a romance circulating around her and Brad Pitt, nothing has been a serious possibility until yesterday.
Honestly, we should’ve seen it coming. Ratajkowski is freshly divorced, hugely famous, and extremely attractive… sound like anyone else we know? Kim Kardashian, who Davidson was in a relationship with from October 2021 to August 2022 after the (not) “very amicable” split between her and Kanye West, checks off all the boxes.
Despite many fans feeling like this news is completely out of the blue, there’s no denying that Davidson’s got some je ne sais quoi that makes him attractive to some of pop culture’s most eligible bachelorettes, like Kardashian and Ariana Grande. Ratajkowski was definitely aware of Davidson’s attractiveness — in fact, she publicly praised Davidson on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2021 after being asked about a David LaChapelle photoshoot they were both in. “Pete — he’s got the height. Obviously, women find him very attractive…” she said. “And I’m like, I mean, he seems super charming. He’s vulnerable. He’s lovely. His fingernail polish is awesome. He looks good! He’s great! Good relationship with his mother. We love it.”
At this point, we need to stop acting surprised when Pete Davidson shows up on our timelines with a baddie on his arm. This is one of those unexplainable science things that just seem to be part of how life works.
