Billie Eilish Is *Finally* Dropping Her Third Studio Album & It’s Coming So Soon

Updated Published

2023 was truly the year of Billie Eilish. It felt like everywhere you went, Eilish’s music was playing in the background — and many weren’t complaining.  Her songs like “What Was I Made For?” and “When The Party’s Over” hit home and are enjoyable to listen to. It’s been two years since Eilish released her second studio album Happier Than Ever, and fans have been eagerly awaiting new information about her third album. Eilish has teased a new project in the past, but on April 8, she finally confirmed that her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, is coming!

Eilish shared the exciting news on Instagram. In addition to revealing what appeared to be her third album’s cover, the singer shared that the highly-anticipated project will drop on May 17.

“HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” MY THIRD ALBUMMMMMMMMMMMMM COMES OUT MAY 17THHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHH🥹🥹🥹 so crazy to be writing this right now i’m nervyyyyy & exciteddd đź«Ł,” Eilish wrote.

Unfortunately for fans, the singer’s following in Ariana Grande’s footsteps and won’t be releasing any singles ahead of the album release as she wants to “give it to you all at once.” She added, “finneas and i truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it. love you love you love you.”

Eilish previously talked about the musical inspirations behind her third studio album.

In a 2023 radio interview with BBC Radio 1, Eilish teased some of the musical inspirations for the third album. Eilish named Radiohead, Deftones, Dominic Fike, Mazzy Star, and My Bloody Valentine as some of her inspirations.

In contrast to Happier Than Ever, which had more 50s-inspired sounds, it’s clear that Eilish is going a different route for her third album.

Eilish stated that it may take some time for her third album to be released.

In September 2023, Eilish talked about being in the final stages of the third album during an interview with The Cookout. “We’re in the final stages of making it, so that doesn’t mean it’s about to come out, but it’s getting there and it’s very exciting,” She sure knows how to spark excitement.

Now that we know Eilish’s third album is coming sooner rather than later, I’ll be counting down the days until this project is finally released.
