It’s a big day for boygenius lovers. On March 28, the trio consisting of Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker announced their summer 2023 North American tour, and I am not OK.Â
After releasing three songs on Jan. 18 — “$20,” “Emily I’m Sorry,” and “True Blue” — the band announced their debut album with a release date of March 31. Now, boygenius is hitting the road for the first time ever. And it gets better! Joining them is an exciting line-up of special guests that will have you feeling on top of the world (at least I know I was).Â
But first, some background. The supergroup formed in 2018 after running into each other in similar circles in the indie scene. As artists, Bridgers, Baker, and Dacus were tired of being pitted against each other as the “women in rock to watch” and decided to make music together in order to switch the narrative. Honestly? I’m super glad they did. Listen to “Salt The Wound’ and tell me they aren’t, well, geniuses.
Dacus and Baker shared the news on their Instagrams along with the tour dates and locations. BRB, finding the venue nearest to me.
According to the official announcement, the tour starts on April 12 in Pomona, CA and ends on August 5 in Denver, CO. Some other stops along the way include Houston, Asheville, Toronto, Pittsburgh, and Boise.
How to get presale tickets for the boygenius tour.
According to the band’s Instagram post, the presale starts on March 29 at 10 a.m. (local venue time) on the boygenius website. For fans of the band, I have great news: there’s actually a presale code you can use: NOTSTRONG. Crossing my fingers for you!
Who is joining boygenius on tour?
Of course, the band is giving an extra special treat with their first tour! Drum roll please… they’ve invited special guests Carly Rae Jepsen, Broken Social Scene, Bartees Strange, Claug, and Illuminati Hotties to rock out with them. Who will join the band on stage will depend on the venue, so be sure to check the poster (and venue information) to see which special guest(s) will appear on tour!
I want to see you screaming, crying, and losing your voice when Julien, Phoebe, and Lucy take the stage. Mainly so I can live vicariously through you.Â
