Relive The Drama With These Celebrity Feud Halloween Costumes

Get you costumes ready besties because it’s that time of year again! Halloween is the day for you to create some fun and spooky memories no matter if your plans consist of staying home or going out with friends. It’s the holiday that keeps us on our toes the most, as we’re all trying to come up with unique looks to rock. After all, nothing is more frightening than seeing a million Barbies and Kens, black cats, or Harley Quinns pull up to the same party.

Some of us are opting for full glam while others (myself included) are going the effortless, comfortable route. IMO, the biggest rule of Halloween is that you’re supposed to dress up as something you’re not. With this in mind, wouldn’t it be hilarious to pretend that you and your BFF hate each other just for one night? Here are seven iconic celebrity feuds that you could turn into some creative (and fun) Halloween 2023 costumes!

1. Taylor Swift & Katy Perry

After several years of friendship, an argument between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry sparked when some of Swift’s backup dancers left her Red Tour to join Perry’s Prismatic Tour in 2014. Swift’s smash hit “Bad Blood” is supposedly about Perry, who apparently responded to her former friend’s diss with her song “Swish Swish.” The two seemed to make amends in 2018 and reunited the following year for Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down” music video in which they dressed up as a burger and fries. Not only is this a fun look to recreate with your bestie, it’s also super comfortable and doesn’t require much effort.

2. Lady Gaga & Madonna

Madonna went off on Lady Gaga when the latter’s song “Born This Way” came out. Madonna thought that the hit track “blatantly ripp[ed] off” her song “Express Yourself.” This sparked feud rumors in 2011, but the stars have since clarified that they never had ill feelings for each other.

In 2015, Madonna complimented Gaga’s artistry and said that the “Born This Way” incident was just “one issue.” Both pop icons have a variety of looks you can pick from to recreate, so just pick the ones you and your bestie vibe with the most.

Nicki Minaj & Cardi B

The two queens of rap started out as friends, but things turned sour around 2018 when they seemed to subtly diss each other in their music. During a Harper’s Bazaar event at that year’s New York Fashion Week, Cardi B threw a shoe at Minaj.

Cardi B later said on Instagram that Minaj crossed the line by insulting Kulture, her oldest child.

One of Cardi’s most notable looks is her leopard suit from the “WAP” music video. For Minaj, an edgy pink dress and wig should do the trick.

Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera

The childhood friendship between these two icons turned into a years-long feud, which became a staple of early 2000s pop culture. Spears’ debut single “…Baby One More Time” arrived four months before Aguilera’s “Genie In A Bottle.” The tabloids depicted them as rivals since 1999, but by 2003, they started taking swipes at each other in interviews.

To recreate Spears’ iconic outfit from the “…Baby One More Time,” wear your hair in two braids with a white button-down shirt and pleated skirt. For Aguilera, all you’ll need is a white baby tee, low-rise jeans, and a blonde wig.

Kylie Jenner & Jordyn Woods

Jenner and Woods first met as teens through their mutual friend Jaden Smith and the rest was history. However, this dynamic duo turned into enemies in 2019 when Tristan Thompson, Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend at the time, was caught cheating on her with Woods. Jenner felt betrayed and conflicted, but ultimately took her older sister’s side.

These matching green swimsuits from a 2019 Instagram post (one of their last outings as friends) would look so good on you and your bestie.

Olivia Rodrigo & Sabrina Carpenter

The internet got so messy as a result of this feud. Rumors that Rodrigo dated her High School Musical: The Musical — The Series co-star Joshua Bassett surfaced when the former released her smash hit “drivers license” in January 2021. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Rodrigo changed the song’s lyric from her 2020 teaser track from “brunette” to “blonde,” which led many to assume this was a reference to Sabrina Carpenter, Bassett’s new girlfriend. Carpenter then released her song “Skin,” and with lines like “maybe blond was the only rhyme” and “don’t drive yourself insane,” this seemed like a direct response to Rodrigo.

While we don’t actually recommend for you and your bestie to create drama over a guy, Rodrigo and Carpenter can be fun to dress up as for Halloween! For Rodrigo, pair a cheerleading uniform with black gloves to recreate the iconic look from the “Good 4 U” music video.

For Carpenter, all you need is a pink or white sparkly minidress. If you’re feeling adventurous and have a sewing machine, you can even DIY a heart cutout.

Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez go way back. The two met on the set of Barney & Friends and went on to co-star on numerous Disney Channel projects together. At one point, they were considered close friends. But in 2010, Lovato infamously told a fan to “ask Taylor [Swift]” how Gomez was doing while signing autographs. That same year, Gomez hinted that she and Lovato had drifted apart in a Girls’ Life interview.

During their years as friends, many of Lovato and Gomez’s red carpet looks became staples of early 2010s fashion, including their yellow and white high-low dresses from the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, which are super easy to recreate.
